Bill and Shana Bates and their kids Olivia and Calvin relocated to south/east Oakville in the summer of 2012. Aside from loving their new neighborhood, they noticed that there was a big area between Ford Drive and Trafalgar, south of the QEW that had very few music schools yet lots of families. Recognizing that convenience is a huge factor when it comes to extra curricular activities they started to watch for an opportunity to become available for a music school. Near the end of the 2013 school year, an existing music school near the Sobey's Mall closed due to retirement and a perfect sized unit in the Sobey's became available. As they say, timing is everything and they secured the Mall location and began working on setting up their new satellite school.

Bill has spent the majority of his life living and working in the Etobicoke area known as The Kingsway. In 1989 he opened KAOS Music Centre, a music store/music school based business. Since then, over 28 years now, Bill has learned and refined his business into what it is today, a first class music equipment store and one of the west ends most well known and successful music schools. Along the way, he met and married his wife Shana who has only improved his business sense with ongoing support and some very important "behind the scenes" advice :) They're a good team.

Shana started her working career with IBM but quickly moved into the world of recording studios where she and a previous partner created, developed and ran one of the city's most successful independent recording studios. After selling her portion of the studio, Shana went on to work in the event production business before ending that career to begin her most important job of all .. Mom. Shana now spends her days, and nights for that matter as a full time mom/new business owner. Both kids, Olivia and Calvin go to school in the area and are involved in a number of community based activities. Shana is definitely a community go-getter and can often be found volunteering at the schools and working at various events in the community.

Raising our family together, in a great community with great schools and people is the most important thing to us at this point in our lives. South/east Oakville is where we've chosen to spend this time in our lives. We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to run a business in our own community, only a few minutes from our own home. It is a perfect arrangement for us, allowing us to expand our family business in a small way while never really having to leave the area to work. Thanks!
